"Scary Old MacDonald's Farm" was our first official theme. It featured five main characters meant to be human cannibals. The vibe wasn't overly terrifying—just delightfully bizarre—and the cannibalism was implied rather than explicitly shown. To lean into the quirky farm theme, I made giant zombie chickens, along with smaller chickens, roosters, ducks, and more. We also had cow and goat heads popping out from under the porch, alongside skeleton cowboys and a scarecrow animatronic. This was the debut year for Moolissa the dancing cow, who has been rebuilt and brought back every year since!

Back in 2022, you couldn't find Halloween chickens, ducks, or cows for sale anywhere—at the time, no one associated the barnyard with Halloween. Since my son was two years old and loved animals, I wanted a yard full of them.

The very next year, Tractor Supply started selling Halloween-themed chickens ,ducks and the rest of the barnyard. They definitely got the idea from our posts, which blew up online across our page and in pretty much every Facebook Halloween group in existence!

That year also featured our first custom build: a 9- or 10-foot tree for the yard with interior lights and a carved face. Sure enough, in 2024, Home Depot released the "Murderous Maple" tree—which bears quite a striking resemblance—after that they continued to design many other trees in the same likeness as ours.  This was another creation of ours that blew up across the internet at the time.
